Why Verizon, Blackstone, and BMW Hire the #KillerPitchMaster

Speaking.  Everyone thinks they can be a great speaker yet very few know why some speakers are highly sought after and booked repeatedly.  For the past 31 years, I have been one of those speakers.  What I bring to the stage cannot be taught by AI.  No slight to AI yet conference organizers, event planners, companies and foundations are seeing speakers who do more than read from slides or a PPT.  They want their audience to feel something.  They want their attendees to want more, to get excited, and ask questions.  They want an audience on fire!

I am a former attorney in New York.  I have been a professional speaker since I was 16 years old!  I have spoken all over the world for global companies such as Blackstone, BMW, Verizon, LinkedIn, Dominion Energy, etc.  The truth is, I was not hired because I am black.  It’s because I am the best in the world at all forms of pitching, messaging, and rainmaking and even wrote books on the topics.

 

Now, let’s get down to business.  Why did Verizon hire me to co-create and be the Lead Instructor in their Small Business “Super Pitch” National Pitch Competition in 2026?  Why did Columbia University hire me as a Professor?  Why did Dominion Energy, BlackStone, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield hire me to Keynote their events?  Yes, I have the background and pedigree.  Yet that is only part of the reason I was hired.  They hired me because against all odds, I shocked and awed the business world.  I took a small company and gained media placements, my books were reviewed by top publications, organizations loved how I taught pitching and sales at events and wanted great results they were not finding the traditional way.  In fact, with my first company, “Curvy Girlz Lingerie,” I built that into a successful company when I was 327 pounds.  So many people mocked me and my weight.  There is no way anyone would invest in me.  And yet, they did to a tune of $750k winning competitions and being on “Shark Tank,” Season 8 in 2016!

 

My flaws became my secret weapon because they never saw me coming!  I brought energy, funk, fire, and crafted pitches that are still legendary in the media.  Small businesses need to meet the person who started with nothing and made it in a situation that seemed impossible.  I went on to be hired to act in movies, host tv shows, and create a movement around that company.

 

What remained?  While on stage, people and organizations loved the way I pitched and wanted to pay me to teach them my proprietary system because it went beyond what everyone was teaching.

 

What do companies need right now?  Someone who understands the challenge of maintaining the great clients and customers right now while also baiting, attracting and closing on new prospects.  I realized years ago that pitching wasn’t easy but it sure is fun.  I also realized that companies needed an ingenious way to look at sales differently.  They needed to understand that Rainmaking is the way which includes packaging, positioning and pitching.
